SUNDAY AUGUST 19 2001  ST. JUDE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY  PAGE THREE

MISSION COOP THIS WEEKEND

Once each year, a missioner is sent to each parish outside of the Third World to seek prayers, volunteers and funds for a specific missionary area.    This is known as the "Missionary Cooperative Plan".   This is in addition to the Annual Collection on the Third Sunday of October for the "Propagation of the Faith".    Funds collected that day are divided among many different missionary groups throughout the world.

This weekend Father Javier Guiterrez will be speaking at all Masses seeking your prayers and funds for the Diocese of Tijuana in Mexico.      People from all over Mexico come to this area as it is near the United States.     Many businesses have located in the area offering jobs and salaries much higher than in other parts of Mexico.     Many people who come have no skills and end-up living in shantytowns.     They literally live in cast-off cardboard boxes.

Trying to serve all these Catholic people is exhausting the resources of the Diocese of Tijuana.    Today the Bishop, Rafael Romo Munoz, has sent Father Javier to plead on behalf of their needs.    Please be as generous as possible.

For those who are tithing, this is another excellent opportunity to share your second 5% of your Tithe Unto the Lord.

DIED IN CHRIST

Our parish community extends its most heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of those who have died this week. May God the Father welcome them into paradise. Father thank you for all the blessings you gave them in this life to show your Fatherly care for all of us. Eternal rest grant unto them and let your perpetual light shine upon them.

BORN AGAIN OF WATER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

By God's gift, through water and the Holy Spirit, the following infants were reborn this past weekend to everlasting life. May God our loving Father, Jesus, our Lord and Brother, and the Holy Spirit make them always, wherever they may be, faithful members of His holy people, the Church.

Let us welcome these new members into our parish family, and let us also congratulate their parents for sharing their faith with their children.
