SUNDAY AUGUST 5 2001  ST. JUDE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY  PAGE THREE

LOAVES AND FISHES

St. Jude Catholic Community is in the process of beginning a new outreach program called LOAVES & FISHES. This is a ministry that organizes parish members into the communal action of donating food and personal goods to those in need.

The pilot food drive for
LOAVES & FISHES was held Saturday, July 21st.  It was a great success.  One hundred families from our parish were called y volunteers requesting a donation of a bag of groceries.  The response from families contacted was outstanding.

In all, there were
156 bags of food and personal goods collected.  In addition, $210 in cash, checks and Scrip was donated.  The food was picked up by the following social services:  St. Vincent de Paul Society, Dolores Mission in Los Angeles, Impacto and Las Familias.  The money collected was donated to Many Mansions.

To all who contributed you time, effort and donations to LOAVES & FISHES….We thank you very, very much.

For information on how to donate food, or if you want to help, please contact one of the following families:  Jerry and Judy Sullivan: 805 495-1623, John and Jackie Treuting:  805 495-4630, Gary and Eileen McCarthy:  818 707-1367, or Tony and Gueryn LeCesne:  818 706-0960.

You will be learning more about
LOAVES & FISHES over the coming weeks and months.  Please pray for the success of this worthy social justice program.
