SUNDAY JULY 22 2001  ST. JUDE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY  PAGE THREE

FATHER PAVOL

Father Pavol (Paul) Zatko is visiting us till the end of August.    Father Pavol is a pastor in Brastilava, Slovakia.  His English is limited, but he is hoping to improve while amongst us.     Father Pavol will concelebrate this week and next, and then will be presiding at Mass the first two weeks of August.     Our deacons and pastoral intern will preach at his Masses and proclaim the Gospel.

The Zatko family name may be known to some in the parish, as Father Pavol's uncle was Father Frank Zatko, a Salesian priest, who taught for many years at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower and Don Bosco Technical School in Rosemead.

If you speak Slovak or German, Father Pavol would enjoy meeting you.

NEW PASTORAL INTERN

Gilberto Monico arrives this week.    Gilberto has completed all his seminary studies.   He is now working on learning the fine points of our language, and on expressing himself well in English.    If God wills and the Cardinal gives the Call to Orders, Gilberto will be ordained a priest of Jesus Christ on January 12, 2002.     He will be ordained a deacon this fall, hopefully in October.

Gilberto will be with us till his ordination as a priest.     Some parishioners have been asked to help him develop his language talents in English.     He will be giving reflections and homilies, teaching some classes, and just talking with people to develop his linguistic talents.

Please keep Gilberto and all seminarians in your prayers.
