DOES GOD GET EVEN?

Doesn't the Bible Say:  "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord."?

Yes, God gets even!  In the Old Testament God's Call to Israel to be His People was unstoppable.  When evil tried to block Him, God's goodness conquered it.  God did not do evil things, but in the clash between good and evil, between grace and sin, grace and God's goodness win.  And, it isn't always pretty!  In the New Testament, when sin had its grip on us, He "got even" by sending His Only-Begotten Son to destroy sin and death, and to restore us to eternal life.

However, I have an idea you question is a little closer to home.  Sometimes people feel as though God gets even with them personally.  God always loves us and calls us to conversion --- namely, to turn-away from sin and to turn toward Him.  His only purpose in creating us, is to love us, and for us to love Him in return, so that we can be with Him forever in eternal glory.  Vengeance is
not part of God's Plan.  But when we sin, we often suffer the consequences of our failures and bad choices.  We cause those results by what we do.  It is not God getting even!  Some people would blame God, or think that God does evil things to us because we commit sin.  Not true!  Remember what Jesus says to people who accused Him of casting out devils in the name of the devil:  "A house divided against itself can not stand."  If God were to do evil things, how could He be at the same time good and loving?  It is not possible!

"It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."  President George Washington.
