"TOGETHER IN MISSION"

Part of being a disciple of Christ is to take a stand in solidarity with those who serve the-poorest-of-the-poor in our Archdiocese. We cannot allow ourselves to reason why these sisters and brothers may be poor. Nor can we ignore their needs. Rather, we need to stand in support with them in their needs.
"Together in Mission" is the Archdiocesan ministry that allows this to happen. Today our poorest parishes have "real needs" that are not being met. It is estimated that  $128,000,000.00 would be needed today to make all the necessary repairs and do the retrofitting in these parishes and parish schools. Not included are their daily operating expenses that amount to more than $11,000,000.00 annually.
If you have not yet made your Pledge Commitment, please prayerfully consider giving a little more than you have over the past years. We all need to come to a real awareness of the burdens and the genuine needs that exist in our poorest parishes.  Our Baptismal Calling impels us to share with those who are less fortunate. Let us dig deeply this year and do our best to help this worthwhile ministry,
"Together in Mission."

"KIDS CIRCLE"
Children Living With a Parent
or Grandparent with Cancer

"Kids Circle" is a four-session program to provide support and education for children who have a parent or grandparent with cancer.  In a safe, nurturing, homelike environment, this program gives children ages 5 through 12 the opportunity to better understand what is happening in their families, and how to take care of themselves.
With the guidance of caring professionals, children learn about cancer, talk about their feelings, learn new ways to cope, learn about change and make new friendships.  This is done through play, special activities, art, discussion and music.
During the "Kids Circle," adult family members meet in a group with other adults who have similar concerns.  This program provides them with specific tools, information and support to decrease their anxiety and help them help their children cope.
This takes place at the Wellness Community, 530 Hampshire Road in Westlake Village on April 13, 20, 27 and May 4, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

THANK YOU!
For Supporting our Lenten Friday Soup Dinners

The "Friday Lenten Soup Dinners" were once again fantastic!  About one thousand Lenten Friday Dinners were served.  About $1,600.00 was collected from freewill offerings for the poor.  But most importantly there was the opportunity for us to greet one another and share time with our brothers and sisters.  So many families came with their children regularly!

Thanks, also, to the different parish ministries who prepared all those wonderfully delicious soups.  You are all such great cooks.  Belle Vida once again was so charitable and helpful.  Thanks also to those individuals who made small pots of soup and brought them in to add to the variety and "the Lenten Spirit."

God bless and reward you all!
