"Preserving Our Heritage...
Embracing Our Future"
St. Jude's Catholic Community, under the leadership of Father Bill and the Executive Committee, has embarked on a campaign to renovate the church and school, and build a new Pastoral Center, which will include an auditorium, administrative offices and classrooms. A Scale Model of the project is on display in the foyer of the Church.
Campaign Update As of May 14, pledge contributions total $2,046,767.14. The amount of cash received as of the same date: $650,070.54. What is "Visitation Sunday?" Today, May 20! If you haven't made a decision on your commitment, volunteers from your neighborhood will be visiting you at home. Parishioners are asked to stay at home between 1 and 5 p.m. and welcome these dedicated volunteers who have graciously donated their time and effort for St. Jude's. What about the church - are there plans to improve the sound system? Sound system improvements are high on the priority list. The inadequacies of the sound system in the Church, specifically the public address electronics and the acoustical qualities of the building, are well recognized. A professional sound system engineer will be consulted for he Church and the new Pastoral Center Auditorium to develop an effective design. Sound provisions for the hearing impaired are also being studied.
Will the choir loft be retained? Because the choir is part of the gathered assembly, the choir loft will be lowered and given a wooden floor for improved accoustics. Its size will be increased so that instrumentalists can be together with the choir members, rather than crowded close to the altar as now happens at some Masses.
