"Preserving Our Heritage...
Embracing Our Future"
St. Jude's has embarked on a campaign to renovate the church and school, as well as build a new Pastoral Center, which will include an auditorium, administrative offices and classrooms. Your pledge is key to gaining matching funds from the Archdiocese.
What will be the seating capacity of the renovated church?
Basically the same. However, we're required to remove the folding seats between longer pews and provide accessibility to disabled parishioners. The space is also needed in case of an emergency evacuation.
What will be the placement of the Tabernacle and Altar?
The Tabernacle will remain in the same location in the Blessed Sacrament chapel. There will be a scene next to both sides of the Tabernacle reminding all of us of our need to come to Jesus and be fed on Him in the Eucharist. The Altar Table will remain in the same location but will be moved slightly forward so as to be nearer the gathered assembly. The Ambo will also be moved forward in line with the Altar Table to emphasize the Liturgy of the Word.
Will the interior walls and stations change?
Everything else in the interior of the church will basically stay as is. The church will be repainted and refreshed. The present atriums will be enclosed. A handicapped-accessible bathroom will be added to the bride's room. The atrium area nearest the bride's room will become a "time-out" room for young children. The Most Blessed Sacrament Chapel will become a quiet place of peace, reverence and prayer.
What is Commitment Sunday?
May 6th - the day to turn in your pledge cards. That's just two weeks away. Place them in the collection basket, drop them by the church office, or simply mail them in the envelope provided. Thanks again for your generous sacrifice.
