CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Dynamic song leaders needed for our Children's Liturgy of the Word program.

If you have a strong , clear voice, love to work with kids and have very little free time,
THIS IS THE MINISTRY FOR YOU!

You will be responsible for leading the children in three short songs during the Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00 a.m. Mass (the Children's Liturgy of the Word takes place outside of the church building in the media room).  A pianist will accompany you while you sing with the children.

This is a great way to get involved in our Church family, especially if you have very little free time.  Please call Cindy Kozal if you can help.

ST.  JUDE PARISH  SCHOOL  NEWS

E-SCRIP

Vons Market is now on the E-Scrip program.    Each time you shop there and run your Vons card through, St. Jude's Parish School automatically receives credit.    All you need to do is to register by sending in an application, which are available in Pastoral Office.    There is a $10.00 registration fee.

SCRIP CERTIFICATES

All interested in purchasing Scrip Certificates to benefit our Parish School can contact Sharon Rhatigan at
818 - 707 - 2447.      She has the list of all participating merchants.

ALBERTSONS CARDS

Albertsons has shopping cards.    You can obtain an application in the Pastoral Office.  Every time it is scanned, our Parish School is credited.

TOOLS 4 SCHOOLS

Please continue to support the Oaks Mall "Tools 4 Schools" program.    This unique program provides educational materials to schoolchildren.  All that you need to do to help our Parish School Children is to save the receipts of all of your purchases that you make at the Oaks Mall from now through this December 31, 2000.   Take a minute to stop at the Center Court and have them credit those receipts to our Parish School.     Except for that extra minute, it costs you nothing and you help our Parish School.

If you do not need your receipts returned to you, you can simply drop-off your receipts in the Parish School Office.

If you have any questions, please contact Louisa Jeworski at
805 - 493 - 4400.

LABELS & BOXTOPS

We are still collecting Campbell's soup labels, and General Mills' box tops.   At the end of this school year, we can turn these in for free equipment and/or cash.   Please continue to clip and save these labels and box tops, and bring them to the box at the front doors of the church or to the Parish School Office.    Thanks!

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

Since the Second Vatican Council, there has been restored the special process for people interested in knowing and learning about our Catholic Christian Faith.    This process is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation --- RCIA.      There are special levels for adults, for teens, and for children six and older.     At the end of this process, those not baptized in any fashion, are given the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion.  Those who have been baptized in another Ecclesial Community --- such as Episcopal, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, etc. --- are given Confirmation and Holy Communion after they make a Profession of Faith.     Orthodox Christians merely make a Profession of Faith.

If you know anyone --- adult, teen or child --- who might  want to know about us Catholic Christians, why not invite them.

This program is also for anyone who was baptized a Catholic as a child, but who was never raised in the Catholic Christian Faith.

Anyone who was baptized a Catholic and who practiced the Faith for some time before dropping-out or joining another Ecclesial Community, should attend our "Welcome Home Returning Catholic Program" first.

For adults, please give Jenifer Carmichael a call at
805 - 497 - 2551.     New Adult Inquiry begins last Monday of January, 2001.

For teens and children, please call Joan Nardone at
818 - 889 - 0612.
