BIBLE STUDY - Sunday to Sunday

Please come join us in preparing for next Sunday's Mass.     We meet to learn about and discuss the Readings for the upcoming Sunday Liturgy.    Each week we watch a 20 minute video, stopping the tape at appropriate moments to discuss the material presented.   We enjoy lively conversation, faith sharing moments, and good Christian fellowship, as we learn more about the Bible and thereby enable ourselves to be more fully prepared to celebrate next Sunday's Mass.

Tuesday mornings 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in Room 7.       This week we will do the
"First Sunday of Advent" (C)."    All are welcome!   Come prepare for next Sunday's Mass!   No preparation!     No homework!

Father Bill will speak to the group on Tuesday, December 7th, regarding the Luke, whose Gospel will be read during Year C.      He will also answer questions regarding the Bible, especially regarding the Sunday Readings.

For more information, please contact Linda Odre at
805 - 373 - 1348.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

Since the Second Vatican Council, there has been restored the special process for people interested in knowing and learning about our Catholic Christian Faith.    This process is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation --- RCIA.      There are special levels for adults, for teens, and for children six and older.     At the end of this process, those not baptized in any fashion, are given the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion.  Those who have been baptized in another Ecclesial Community --- such as Episcopal, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, etc. --- are given Confirmation and Holy Communion after they make a Profession of Faith.     Orthodox Christians merely make a Profession of Faith.

If you know anyone --- adult, teen or child --- who might want to know about us Catholic Christians, why not invite him or her.

This program is also for anyone who was baptized a Catholic as a child, but who was never raised in the Catholic Christian Faith.  Anyone who was baptized a Catholic and who practiced the Faith for some time before dropping-out or joining another Ecclesial Community, should attend our "Welcome Home Returning Catholic Program" first.

For adults, please give Jenifer Carmichael a call at
805 - 497 - 2551.     New Adult Inquiry begins last Monday of January, 2001.  For teens and children, please call Joan Nardone at 818 - 889 - 0612.
