THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME --- YEAR "B" --- NOVEMBER 19, 2000

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN
DEVELOPMENT COLLECTION
This Weekend

In describing Jubilee, St. Luke in his Gospel said:   "The spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed Me to bring glad tidings to the poor." (Luke 4:18).

Around our country this weekend, we American Catholic Christians are being asked to take-up this Biblical Challenge of "bringing glad tidings to the poor."   The occasion is the Annual Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.   For 30 years now this initiative by the American Catholics has been bringing glad tidings to the poor by working to address the root causes of poverty.   It has been the Church's helping hand to poor and low-income people in our Archdiocese and around our country.    Grants from this Campaign have funded several thousand self-help projects to empower, and to provide opportunities, for people to work together to solve community problems, create jobs, build affordable housing, help seniors and others with limited incomes to make necessary housing repairs, and organize for positive change.

Let us each extend the reach of our "glad tidings" by participating in this year's Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

For those who are tithing, this is an excellent charity to share the extra 5% of the Tithe Unto the Lord.

Remember:   Your gift helps people help themselves.

SENIORS THANKSGIVING DINNER TODAY

Every year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving our parish Confirmation Students cook and serve a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner to all the seniors in our parish community.    That's today!       See all you Seniors here right after the 12:00 noon Mass.

Hall doors will open as soon as the Noon Mass is completed.      A delicious Thanksgiving Dinner cooked and prepared by our First Year Confirmation Students, their parents and other parishioners will be served at 1:30 p.m.     Second Year Confirmation Students will serve the meals and wait on tables.     That is right!   You will be served!      No standing in line!     Your wish will be their command.

St. Jude's Parish Gift Shop is having a Holiday Sale today after the 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses.    The Sale will be held in the patio area near the big parking lot.    Stop by and look over items that might make great gifts and stocking stuffers.
