JUBILEE HOLY YEAR
THIRD MILLENNIUM CELEBRATION

2000 Theme - This is the Year of the Most Holy Trinity.    This Jubilee Year our special aim is to give glory to the Most Holy Trinity "from Whom everything in world and in history comes and to Whom everything returns."     This is also a Holy Year in Rome and in the Holy Land.     However, we can enter into the Holy Year Celebrations by making a pilgrimage with our parish family.   For, after preparing and disposing ourselves through prayer and fasting, reconciling and healing, changing our manner of living and knowing God's forgiving mercy, we can then pilgrimage to one of the churches named by our Archbishop as a Holy Year Jubilee Church.   The Virtue for us to try to obtain and live this year, is unity; unity which flows from forgiving and reconciling-healing, as God forgives and reconciles and heals our relationship with Him.    The Sacrament to be better known and to be received with greater frequency and devotion is the Most Holy Eucharist.     Mary is recalled as the Radiant Model of the Church.    Our daily practice this Jubilee Holy Year is to be reaching out to those who are alienated from us, and from the Community of the Church.    We are to pray for unity among those who believe in God, and also to dialogue with world religions.     We are called-upon to seek a new Pentecost within the Disciples of Christ as we begin this Third Millennium.      A Pentecost moved by the power of the Spirit that spills out into our world, which not only makes Christ better known and loved by all peoples everywhere, but also puts His Spirit into the hearts and minds of all people.

JUBILEE  HOLY YEAR PRAYER

Holy God, Holy Strength, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us!
Holy God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob, hear our prayer!
We come into your presence, shouting for joy, pleading for hope!
We join the procession of the faithful ones to your holy temple!
We fall on our face, acknowledging our own sins and the sins of our ancestors.
We have wandered far from your presence.    Today we return with  all our heart.
For our prejudice, our injustice, our lack of service to others, we ask forgiveness and confess our sin.
For our selfishness, our pride, our indifference to others, we ask forgiveness and confess our sin.
For our cruelty, our destruction of your precious gift of life, our hatred, we ask forgiveness and confess our sin.
For all our unspeakable sin, for the evil of our hearts, we ask forgiveness and  confess our sin.
We profess our faith in the unity of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, source of our life and holiness.
We profess our faith in Holy Church, with her Sacraments of our salvation and forgiveness.
We profess our faith in the resurrection of the dead and eternal life.
We look to the future with hope and joy, we will build the future as sisters and brothers.
We look for the unity of all peoples gathered in your name, in peace and justice.
We will work for the sanctity of the Christian family, as hope of the new millennium.
We will dedicate ourselves to respect life at all stages, as God's precious gift to us.
We will share God's mercy and forgiveness, as the Good News for all people.
We will celebrate joyfully together the Sunday Eucharist, as our bond of unity in Christ.
Together with Mary, Mother of America, we will build-up the Body of Christ, the Church.
Together with Mary, Lady of Angels, we will build-up the City of God.      Amen.

[With growing confidence, let us daily pray the above Archdiocesan Jubilee Holy Year Prayer.]
