WINTER SHELTER
The churches in the Conejo Valley have a Winter Shelter Program, which provides shelter and feeds the homeless right here in the Thousand Oaks area. Our contribution is usually to provide a dinner about once a month.
Those who are interested or who may have some questions about this ministry to the poor, are asked to please phone Arline LaPorte at 805 - 496 - 6345.

CARE-GIVERS "Respite & Renewal"
"Respite & Renewal" is a wonderful program designed to offer Care-Givers support.
We all become a Care Giver at some time during our lives. When we become a parent of an emotionally and/or physically disabled child; or we have elderly parents or relatives to care for; or we are involved in many bereavement or detention or other ministries that drain us even as we serve. From time to time we need a "Respite" and we need to be "Renewed".
This group meets every "First Thursday of the Month" in Rooms 3 & 4 of the Parish Hall from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Next gathering will be this Thursday, November 2nd. No dues! No fees! Just sharing and support and love.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Dear Fellow Parishioners:
A warm, heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who contributed to the success of OKTOBERFEST "2000". To everyone who gave us words of encouragement, THANK YOU! To everyone who purchased their grand prize tickets, THANK YOU! To everyone who donated baked goods, books or items for the Marketplace, THANK YOU! To everyone who came forward to volunteer their time or talents, THANK YOU! To everyone who attended the event and shred themselves with our community, THANK YOU! Thank you also Fr. Bill for your support throughout the entire process.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Fr. Dan for his continued guidance and for the many hours worked to ensure that the weekend was a success. It was Fr. Dan who envisioned a two-day weekend with lots of rides for the kids to enjoy and to build booths and equipment that will last.
Most importantly, thanks to our Lord for all our daily blessings and for the many friendships here at St. Jude's.
Yours truly,
Carolyn Chowanec Joan SanFilippo and the entire 2000 OKTOBERFEST Committee
P.S. If you won a basket at the Marketplace and are not sure what to do with it, think of donating it to the School. We would be very happy to recycle it for use at the School Auction.

AGAPE Young Married Couples Support Group
Couples meet monthly from September to June either at St. Jude's or St. Maximillian. Usually there is a presentation on some aspect of marriage or family life, with social time before and after each gathering as an integral part of the monthly meeting.
E-mail Prayer Chain requests are passed quickly, when asked. There is also a Monthly Women's Night Out (movie night, cookie exchange, etc.), and a Men's Softball gave Friday night Fall and Spring, with families enjoying pizza after early games.
Summer: Family Camping Trip, Family BBQ & Swim Party, Family Beach Days.
For more info about all these, and for the 2000-2001 schedule and location please call Marilou O'Halloran at 805 - 494 - 6668.
Mission Statement: To support the Sacrament of Matrimony through openness to learning, sharing, growing in our married relationships; upholding the sacredness and value of Family Life; acknowledging the Presence of God in our lives; and reaching-out to support one another in both fun time and in difficult times --- thru laughter, encouraging, helping, calling, listening, forgiving, praying, holding, caring, in being Jesus to one another.
