This Wednesday, November 1^st, is the Solemnity of All Saints and is a Holyday of Obligation in our country.      All Catholic Christians are required to participate in the Celebration of the Eucharist in honor of this Mystery of Faith.

This Solemnity recalls the Mystery of Faith that all who have completed their pilgrimage on earth and who have walked with the Lord, come at last to reign with Him forever in heaven.     We are all acquainted with the Negro spiritual that puts it very clearly:    "When the Saints go marchin' in . . ., I want to be in their number."      That hymn sure reflects popular piety, but it is also right to the point.     Christians, who have done their best to walk by the light of faith, will be welcomed home to heaven by God after their pilgrimage on earth.

However, in order to achieve this, we are required to walk by the light of Christ.    Yet, so often we prefer to walk by the candlelight of human wisdom and so we make mistakes along the way.     As we celebrate this day, let us pray that we can walk daily by the light of faith.     Let us also remember that our goal is to "be in their number" when the Saints go marchin' in.

Confessions will be heard Tuesday afternoon only from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.     NO evening confessions due to Halloween.

One of the wonderful privileges of being buried in a Catholic Cemetery, is that of having Mass celebrated at the cemetery on Memorial Day and All Souls Day for repose of the souls of all whose bodies are buried there.     In addition, one Mass each day is offered for the repose of the souls of all buried in the cemeteries of our Archdiocese.

Our local Catholic Cemetery is Assumption in Simi Valley.  Mass will be concelebrated by local Deanery Four priests at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley.    To find Assumption Cemetery, take the 23 Fwy north to Olsen Road exit.    Turn right on Olsen Road, which becomes Madera, to Royal.    Turn right on Royal to First Street.     Turn right on First to Fitzgerald.   Turn left on Fitzgerald and then turn right into the cemetery.
