Registration for the 2000-2001 School Term for all Religious Education Classes from Pre-School thru High School Confirmation is now be taken.    Classes begin in just a few weeks.

Pre-School Classes take place Sunday Mornings during the 9:00 a.m. Mass during the School Year.

Elementary Classes are held weekday afternoons from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m.

Junior High Classes are held Tuesday Evenings from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Confirmation is open to all students in high school.    Classes are held in homes on different evenings to allow for a student's schedule.     There are communal gatherings at the parish periodically, and a weekend retreat once each year.      All Confirmation students are also required to complete hours of Christian Service to God and neighbor.      They are also required to have a Sponsor who lives locally who can journey with them during communal gatherings, and take part in Rites.     And, they are additionally required to attend the Archdiocesan Youth Day in Anaheim.

Confirmation II students are reminded that they need to re-register for the Second Year Program.

If this will be your first time registering for any of these classes, please bring along a copy of your child/ren's Baptismal Certificate(s).

COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND
For Ventura Catholic Charities

There will be a Second Collection next weekend taken-up at all Masses for the Ventura Catholic Charities.     These funds are used to help local people with emergency needs.

Diane Martell, former Regional Director of Catholic Charities will speak on behalf of this very important collection at the Masses on Sunday at 7:30, 9:00 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon.

Please be as generous as possible.    This is another charity for those Tithing the second 5% Unto the Lord.

HAVE YOU DONE YOUR PART TO HELP
"OUR SISTER PARISH"?

If you have not yet made your 2000 Pledge Commitment to our Sister Parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Community in Los Angeles, and helping those less fortunate, please prayerfully consider doing so now or whenever your financial picture changes.     We cannot ignore the needs of our poorest sisters and brothers.     Rather, we need to stand in most heartfelt, and genuine support, with them.

"Together in Mission" truly does help our poorest parish communities, as we heard on "Announcement Sunday" when members of our Sister Parish reported to us at each Mass.     Every penny raised goes to help them meet their needs.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children's Liturgy of the Word is celebrated at the 9:00 a.m. Mass beginning September 24th. Children in the first through fifth grades are brought to an area in the parish school to listen and discuss the Liturgy of the Word in language that is appropriate for their level. They return to the church at the beginning of the Eucharist. This is not part of the Sunday school program held at the same time in the parish hall. You do not need to register your child, just send him or her when the priest calls the children to the Altar.

We need your help! Carol Livingston gave many wonderful years to developing this program, as have many of our leaders. However, Carol and a few of the leaders will be moving on since their children have outgrown the program. If you love young children and would like this program to continue, there are many different ways for you to help.

We especially need parishioners to help with music and be leaders of the Liturgy of the Word.
You will be trained...you won't be on your own!

Your commitment could only be once a month if we have enough help! Call Cindy Kozal if you have questions and for information. Home: 818 707-7629. Work:  818 889-0612.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS NEEDED

Anyone wishing to become a Eucharistic Minister, especially at the Sunday Noon Mass, is asked to contact Bill Rubin at
805 - 449 - 1373.

The only requirements are that you are a Fully Initiated Catholic Christian (baptized, confirmed, and made First Communion), and that you are "canonically" able to receive the Sacraments and that you are doing so.

EMBRACING THE DYING MINISTRY

One of the most special ministries in our parish, is "Embracing the Dying".    Those in this ministry embrace those who are dying and their families.     They serve as spiritual hospice persons.     Helping the dying person and the family to share last thoughts and feelings.     Helping the family to accept the impending death of a loved one.     Helping the dying person with their family to compose their funeral service:  music, Readings, etc.    So that on the day of the Christian Burial ritual, the family truly feels one with their beloved who has died and gone to the Lord, and knows that their loved one helped put this together as what they wanted all to feel, and be comforted by, during the funeral rituals.

If you would like to join this ministry of love and compassion, please contact either Debbie Meier at
818 - 597 - 1464, or Jean Marie Cull at 805 - 497 - 6473.
