THANK YOU FROM OUR SISTER PARISH HOLY SPIRIT
Dear Msgr. Leser and the good Parishioners of St. Jude:
St. Paul reminds us so very often that we are the Body of Christ, which in its fullness means that we are called into solidarity with one another. In 1 Corinthians 12:26 he teaches, "If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all parts share its joy". I am convinced that our sister parish of St. Jude has taken to heart and put into practice this essential teaching.
Last week I was overjoyed to receive a letter and monetary gift from your pastor Msgr. Bill Leser. Your generous financial assistance is indeed needed as we work toward upgrading our parish facilities, which will further enable us to meet the ongoing pastoral needs of our parish.
At present, one of our biggest projects is the conversion of the present parish convent into a new Pastoral Center. Unfortunately, as I met with our Contractor last week, we discovered that this building as well as the rectory contains asbestos. This unexpected finding would have greatly delayed our dream of a pastoral center due to the cost of asbestos removal. However, your surprise gift from your "Together in Mission" donations will assist us in the removal of this hazardous material and possibly even allow us to upgrade the heating system in this building with a dual heating and air-conditioning system.
I am deeply indebted to your pastor, Msgr. Leser and to all of our generous friends of St. Jude Parish for your generous financial and prayerful support of your sister parish, Holy Spirit Church in mid-city Los Angeles.
Let us continue to remind ourselves that we are the Body of Christ and custodians of one another.
Sincerely, Yours in Christ,
Rev. Fr. Paul A. Sustayta, Pastor

NEXT WEEKEND
A Redemptorist priest will be here next weekend to share with us at all the Masses. He will also offer us an opportunity to subscribe to their magazine, "The Liguorian", for a year. Their magazine has been revamped and has many wonderful articles and helpful hints for living the faith in this 21st Century.
