MISSION CO-OP COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND
Father James Moran, a Paulist Father, is here this weekend August 12th and 13th to preach all Masses on the missionary works of the Paulist Fathers Community. This represents our parish's participation in the Annual Archdiocesan Cooperative Program.
Father Issac Thomas Hecker founded the Paulist Fathers in New York City in 1858. In the spirit of its founder, the Paulist Fathers continue to communicate the Gospel in its three-fold mission: Evangelization, Reconciliation and Ecumenism.
Whether through television (such as Father Elwood's Kaiser's half hour dramas on the faith), radio, press, parish, campus or downtown center, the Paulist use the means of our time to communicate the Gospel. They seek out the unchurched, those who feel cut off from the Church, and reach-out to other religious traditions and work toward a common reunion of one Church.
Please be as generous as possible this weekend. For those who are tithing, this is an excellent program to share your second 5% of Tithe unto the Lord.

HOLYDAY OF OBLIGATION TUESDAY
This Tuesday, August 15th, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Ever-Virgin Mary into Heaven. It is a Holyday of Obligation in this country. All Catholic Christians are required to participate in the Celebration of the Eucharist in honor of this Mystery of Faith.
This day commemorates the Lord taking the Blessed Ever-Virgin Mary into Heaven body and soul. This feast was the first feast celebrated in honor of the Blessed Mother. It originated among the 4th century Eastern Christians in Greater Syria. Slowly it spread to all Eastern Catholic Churches, and then to the Rome and the Latin Catholic Church. The great significance of this feast, is that Jesus keeps His promise that He will raise up our bodies on the last day. He raised up Mary's body as a sign He will keep that promise for each one of us.
When this feast originated, and even to today in the East, it is known as the "Dormition of Mary" --- the falling asleep in the Lord of the Blessed Mother.
Masses in our parish will be at 7:30 a.m., 12:05 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. There will also be a Vigil Mass at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening.
Confession will be heard Monday afternoon only from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. There be NO evening confessions.
