ENCUENTRO 2000
Encuentro 2000 will hold its Next Session on Wednesday, September 27th, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All are welcome! The theme for fourth this session will be: "Sharing our histories in Christ . . . How can we our parish community better reflect the gifts and contributions of all its members? How is the history of our parish family a source of hope and inspiration in confronting the challenges we face today? What changes in our attitudes might take place when challenging realities are faced and approached from our common faith in Christ?"
Encuentro 2000 is the National Celebration of the Jubilee Year by the Catholic Bishops of the United States. In each parish throughout our country, six participant friendly sessions are being held with the goal of bringing together ministries that make-up our American parishes and improving on how we interrelate. New parish members are particularly encouraged to attend and get involved.
We meet to discuss and learn, not to challenge nor to judge, nor to try to change others. Rather, through dialogue, we seek to develop better strategies for our parish to welcome all, celebrate racial, ethnic, cultural, and other group diversities. All are encouraged to attend. If you have any questions, please call Joe Bowman at 818 - 889 - 6879 after 6:00 p.m.

HOLY YEAR DOOR IN YOUR HOME To Remind You to Open the Doors of your Hearts to Christ?
Pope John Paul II has issued a Call and a Challenge that each individual "Open Wide the Doors to Christ" --- the doors of our hearts and minds and souls. We can accomplish this by becoming reconciled with ourselves; by reconciling with family members with whom we live; by reconciling with those at work or school with whom we spend a lot of time; by reconciling and forgiving anyone who has offended or hurt us; and by reconciling with any we have hurt or offended.

THANK YOU!!! Counselors & Directors St. Jude's Summer Day Camp
A public and most heartfelt "Thank You" is owed to all who worked on St. Jude's "Summer Spirit Day Camp" this past month of July. Every Counselor and Director put himself/herself out to the best of his/her ability to meet the needs of all the Campers. Some of the Counselors had such solicitude and care for the Campers, one would think they were parents. A good time was had by all the Campers. A good time was had too by all the Counselors and Directors, even though they often looked very tired. This was especially true as the weeks passed!
Though many Counselors gained hours for Confirmation Service Hours or for High School Christian Service Hours, their efforts and love and care are very deserving of those hours gained. They all deserve a pat on the back!
A special thanks to Nick Pulley and Lucia Bianchino for guiding the Camp.
May God bless and reward each and everyone who helped in anyway!
