OKTOBERFEST…..

Donation Drop Off:    please drop off all donations in front of the Parish Pastoral Office, except spirits and wine as these items must be kept out of reach.

NB:    Please do not drop off Garage Sale Items. We cannot use them at the Oktoberfest and it is costly and time consuming for us to transport them to a donation center.

Food Booths, Games Booths, and Rides (more Rides than ever before at St. Jude's --- all that we are permitted by our limited space).

Volunteers are needed:   to chair and to work booths, to help make boutique items, to solicit booth sponsors, to solicit new items and gift certificates from local merchants, to sort books and other donated items, and to also put together baskets for the "Marketplace".    Leave your name and phone number and best time to call you with Parish Office, and someone will definitely quickly get in touch with you.

ENCUENTRO 2000

Encuentro 2000 will hold its Next Session on Wednesday, September 27th, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.      All are welcome!      This next session will revolve around families.     Families with their teens and older children/relations are encouraged to come and join the group.

The theme for fourth this session will be:
"Sharing our histories in Christ . . . How can we our parish community better reflect the gifts and contributions of all its members?       How is the history of our parish family a source of hope and inspiration in confronting the challenges we face today?        What changes in our attitudes might take place when challenging realities are faced and approached from our common faith in Christ?"

Encuentro 2000 is the National Celebration of the Jubilee Year by the Catholic Bishops of the United States.     In each parish throughout our country, six participant friendly sessions are being held with the goal of bringing together ministries that make-up our American parishes and improving on how we interrelate.     New parish members are particularly encouraged to attend and get involved.

We meet to discuss and learn, not to challenge nor to judge, nor to try to change others.    Rather, through dialogue, we seek to develop better strategies for our parish to welcome all, celebrate racial, ethnic, cultural, and other group diversities. All are encouraged to attend.      If you have any questions, please call Joe Bowman at
818 - 889 - 6879 after 6:00 p.m

HAVE YOU DONE YOUR PART TO HELP
"OUR SISTER PARISH"?

If you have not yet made your 2000 Pledge Commitment to our Sister Parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Community in Los Angeles, and helping those less fortunate, please prayerfully consider doing so now or whenever your financial picture changes.     We cannot ignore the needs of our poorest sisters and brothers.     Rather, we need to stand in most heartfelt, and genuine support, with them.

"Together in Mission" truly does help our poorest parish communities, as we heard on "Announcement Sunday" when members of our Sister Parish reported to us at each Mass.     Every penny raised goes to help them meet their needs.
