ENCUENTRO 2000
Encuentro 2000 will hold its Next Session on Wednesday, September 27th, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All are welcome! The theme for fourth this session will be: "Sharing our histories in Christ . . . How can we our parish community better reflect the gifts and contributions of all its members? How is the history of our parish family a source of hope and inspiration in confronting the challenges we face today? What changes in our attitudes might take place when challenging realities are faced and approached from our common faith in Christ?"
Encuentro 2000 is the National Celebration of the Jubilee Year by the Catholic Bishops of the United States. In each parish throughout our country, six participant friendly sessions are being held with the goal of bringing together ministries that make-up our American parishes and improving on how we interrelate. New parish members are particularly encouraged to attend and get involved.
We meet to discuss and learn, not to challenge nor to judge, nor to try to change others. Rather, through dialogue, we seek to develop better strategies for our parish to welcome all, celebrate racial, ethnic, cultural, and other group diversities. All are encouraged to attend. If you have any questions, please call Joe Bowman at 818 - 889 - 6879 after 6:00 p.m.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION Pre-School, Elementary, Junior Hi, and Confirmation
Registration for the 2000-2001 School Term for all Religious Education Classes from Pre-School through High School Confirmation will again be held in August. Please remember the Religious Ed Office is closed during this month of July for staff vacations.
Pre-School Classes take place Sunday Mornings during the 9:00 a.m. Mass during the School Year. Elementary Classes are held weekday afternoons from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. Junior High Classes are held Tuesday Evenings from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Confirmation is open to all students in high school. Classes are held in homes on different evenings to allow for a student's schedule. There are communal gatherings at the parish periodically, and a weekend retreat once each year. All Confirmation students are also required to complete hours of Christian Service to God and neighbor. They are also required to have a Sponsor who lives locally who can journey with them during communal gatherings, and take part in Rites. And, they are additionally required to attend the Archdiocesan Youth Day in Anaheim.
Confirmation II students are reminded that they need to re-register for the Second Year Program.
If this will be your first time registering for any of these classes, please bring along a copy of your child's Baptismal Certificate.

HAVE YOU DONE YOUR PART TO HELP "OUR SISTER PARISH"?
If you have not yet made your 2000 Pledge Commitment to our Sister Parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Community in Los Angeles, and helping those less fortunate, please prayerfully consider doing so now or whenever your financial picture changes. We cannot ignore the needs of our poorest sisters and brothers. Rather, we need to stand in most heartfelt, and genuine support, with them.
"Together in Mission" truly does help our poorest parish communities, as we heard on "Announcement Sunday" when members of our Sister Parish reported to us at each Mass. Every penny raised goes to help them meet their needs.
