FIRST FRIDAY THIS WEEK

This Friday, July 7th, will be First Friday.      Confessions will be heard Thursday afternoon and evening at the usual times.

PAPAL HONORS

Congratulations to one and all honored by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II.     His Holiness has smiled upon our Archdiocese, and has bestowed Papal Honors on many members of our Archdiocesan family.    Among those honored, are members of our own parish community.

"Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" (For the Church and the Holy Father) is a Papal Honor presented in recognition of a lifetime of outstanding service within not only the local parish community, but to also the diocesan community or church at large throughout the world.     Those honored are given a personalized certificate signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, as well as a symbolic papal cross.

"Benemerenti Award" (Meritorious Service well done over many years) is given in recognition for meritorious service to the local Parish community.    Those honored are given a personalized certificate signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, as well as a medal.

Because of their many years of loving and committed service to the spreading of the faith, through their commitment to the Carmelite Secular Community and other services across the nation, as well as at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Community, our Holy Father has bestowed the Papal Honor
"Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" on both Mr. Bill Rubin and Mrs. Ida Rubin of our parish.

Because of her many, many years of daily dedicated service to the care of the altar of God up to this very day, Pope John Paul II has bestowed the
"Benemerenti Award" on Mrs. Frances Sheridan.

Because of their many, many years of loving, almost daily service, in so many and varied ways to their local parish and to the priests of the parish, His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, has bestowed the
"Benemerenti Award" on both Mr. George Johnson and Mrs. Grace Johnson.

This week's issue of
"The Tidings" will list all those honored in our Archdiocese.

Congratulations to all those honored!    May we all learn from your example and dedicated service.     May the Lord grant each one of you the greatest honor possible, by one day numbering you among His Chosen Ones in heaven.

"Well done, good and faithful servants!"

Oh! if only we all will hear that wonderful greeting one day coming from the lips of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, as He welcomes us home.

BENEDICTINE MONKS HERE NEXT WEEKEND

The monks of St. Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo will be here next weekend seeking funds to train their candidates and young monks.     The Benedictines of Valyermo have a most unique difficulty!     They have more possible vocations than they have space to house men wishing to discern if they truly have a vocation to become a Benedictine monk.   They also do not have the funds available to train these potential candidates and young monks.

Young monks will be at the doors of the church as you leave Mass next weekend to answer any of your questions, and also to allow you to see the young men you will be helping by your financial aid and your prayers.

Please be generous --- both with funds and prayers!      For those who are tithing, this is another example of sharing your additional 5% of the Tithe unto the Lord.

BLOOD DRIVE HERE JULY 16th

United Blood Services of Ventura County will be here in two (2) weeks, on Sunday, July 16th, in our Parish Hall from 8:00 a.m. till 2:30 p.m.      Give the "Gift of Life", the gift of your blood.     A real shortage has developed.

If you are 17 years of age through 79, and if you are in good general health, and if you have not donated blood in the past eight (8) weeks, then your blood is just what Ventura County Blood Services needs.

Please sign-up next weekend after Mass.     Or give a call to United Blood Services of Ventura County at
800 - 715 - 3699.

THANK YOU!

Thanks to one and all who helped fulfill the wish of His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, that we have a Procession in honor of the most precious and wondrous Gift of the Body and the Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.      Thanks to all who put and decorated the seven altars, and to all who took part.      May the Good Lord bless and reward you all a hundredfold.
