In the two Western Regions of our country encompassing the States of California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington, and also in several other Ecclesiastical Provinces of the United States, the Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to the right hand of the Father, is observed on the Sunday before Pentecost.    That is today, June 4^th

On June 7^th, 1975, His Eminence, Timothy Finbar Cardinal Manning, Archbishop of Los Angeles, ordained Richard F. Dornan to the Order of Deacon.     Our sincerest congratulations to him on the occasion of his Silver Jubilee this week.

  There will be a Surprise Reception today in our Parish Hall for Deacon Dick after the 10:30 a.m. Mass.    The 10:30 Mass today will be sung by all our parish choirs and concelebrated by all our priests.     Father Leo Celano, O.Praem., a former classmate of Deacon Dick's, will preach the homily.      One and all are invited to come and express your gratitude to this man for his dedicated and faithful service to our parish family, especially to the poor and needy in our midst.
