CATHOLIC PARENTS OF GAYS & LESBIANS


The next meeting of Catholic parents of gays and lesbians will be held the fourth Wednesday of May, the 24th, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of John and Christine Cooley.     Father Michael Carcerano, Pastor of St. Rose of Lima, will be in attendance,

As an Archdiocesan sponsored group, all parents of gays and lesbians are invited to join our Deanery Four family of concern, which is growing as we share and understand better our children and also our church's position on this sensitive issue.     These meetings are held monthly on the Fourth Wednesday.    Meetings are informal and confidential.

BULLETIN AND VERBAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any person or organization wishing to submit an article for the bulletin MUST submit the article in writing to the parish office no later than Wednesday morning of the week prior to the bulletin the announcement is to appear in.

Verbal announcements must be submitted in writing no later than Wednesday of the week they are to be read.

EMBRACING THE DYING


This workshop will treat many topics that are of great concern to families facing these issues of death and dying, but also those who minister to them.    Some of the issues treated from a Catholic perspective will be the distinction between "ordinary" and "extra-ordinary" means, pain control, foregoing "extra-ordinary" means, hospice care, and medical fertility,

Father Richard Benson, C.M., will give this workshop this Tuesday, May 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Seminary, 1964 Las Canoas Road in Santa Barbara.

FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT


The Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is one of the fundamental truths of our Catholic Christian Faith.    We were baptized in the name of the . . . .      The Sign of the Cross is the most common act we make as we begin prayers or activities.      During this workshop we will look at the meaning and the importance of this Mystery of our Faith.    Not only as this Mystery pertains to God, but as it pertains to who we are as well.   Special focus will be given to St. Paul's teaching on this topic.    Eucharist and the Sacrament of Penance will be part of the day.

Father Vaughn Winters will present this day.     June 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Seminary, 1964 Las Canoas Road in Santa Barbara.

LIFE GUARD NEEDED

A Life-Guard with current credentials and CPR training is needed for Friday, June 2nd, noon to 3:00 p.m. at a Cub Scout Swim party for 10 boys at a home pool.
