ENCUENTRO 2000

"Encuentro 2000 will hold its second session on Saturday, May 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  All are welcome.  The theme for this session is "Living in Solidarity and Justice...how can we strengthen our commitment to aid the poor and others most vulnerable among us?"

Encuentro 2000 is the National Celebration of all groups of the Jubilee Year sponsored by the Catholic Bishops of the United States.  In each parish throughout the country, six participant friendly sessions will be held with the goal of bringing together ministries that make-up our American parishes and improving on how we interrelate.  New parish member are particularly encouraged to attend and get involved.

We meet in those sessions to discuss and learn, not to challenge or judge or try to change others.  Rather, through dialogue seek to develop better strategies for our parish to welcome all, celebrate racial, ethnic, cultural, and other group diversities.  At the May 27th session we will focus on learning how to be more hospitable to the vulnerable and supportive of the poor.  All are encouraged to attend.   If you have questions, please call Joe Bowman after May 14th at
818 889-6879 after 6:00 p.m.

The first
Encuentro 2000 session, held on April 26th, was centered on mutual acceptance of all ethnic, cultural, racial and linguistics groups that form our community.  We are pleased that all who attended that program reported that it met or exceeded their expectations.  Over 75% rated the program "excellent".  Many positive thoughts for action in our community were presented.  Many said how much they enjoyed the session and/or an opportunity to speak to others in our parish.

Please join us on May 27th.

BIBLE STUDY - Sunday to Sunday

Please come join us in preparing for next Sunday's Mass.     We meet to learn about and discuss the Readings for the upcoming Sunday Liturgy.    Each week we watch a 20 minute video, stopping the tape at appropriate moments to discuss the material presented.   We enjoy lively conversation, faith sharing moments, and good Christian fellowship, as we learn more about the Bible and thereby enable ourselves to be more fully prepared to celebrate next Sunday's Mass.

Tuesday mornings 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in Room 7.       This week we will do the
"Fourth Sunday of Easter" (B)."    All are welcome!   Come prepare for next Sunday's Mass!   No preparation!     No homework!

For more information, please contact Linda Odre at
805 - 373 - 1348, or Cathy Stobbe at 805 - 379 - 4064.
