EASTER FLOWERS
The Potted Easter Lilies, Azaleas, Hydrangeas, and Tulips donated to decorate the environment for Easter were given in memory of many who have died, and in honor of many who are living. Next week's Bulletin will list all their names, as well as all Thanksgiving and Petition Intentions. All will be asked to look over that list, and to pray for those persons and intentions.

ENCUENTRO 2000 First Session - This Wednesday
Our first parish Encuentro 2000 session will be held this Wednesday, April 26th, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 3 & 4 of the Parish Hall. Our RCIA Catechumens, Candidates and Newly Baptized and Received will attend in lieu of this week's class. One and all are invited and encouraged to come. Five other sessions will be held throughout the year; one each month except during the summer.
Encuentro 2000 is the National Celebration of the Jubilee Year sponsored by the Catholic Bishops of the United States. In each parish throughout our country, six participant friendly sessions will be held with the goal of bringing together individuals from the cultures, ethnic communities, and diverse ministries that make-up our American parishes. New parish members are particularly encouraged to attend and get-involved.
We meet in those sessions to discuss and learn, not to challenge or judge or try to change others. Rather, through dialogue, we seek to develop better strategies for our parish to welcome all to celebrate racial, ethnic, cultural, and other group diversities. And, to learn to be more hospitable to the vulnerable and to newcomers to our parish community.
Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger wrote, some 35 years ago: as the Church began to revitalize its practices to open wider its doors, that "Being Catholic means being united with others, to help one another in the case of need, to learn by that which is good in others and to share generously one's own good, it means trying to become acquainted with one another and accepting each other's differences.

"TOGETHER IN MISSION"
If you have not yet made your 2000 Pledge Commitment to our Sister Parish and helping those less fortunate, please prayerfully consider doing so now or whenever your financial picture changes. We cannot ignore the needs of our poorest sisters and brothers. Rather, we need to stand in most heartfelt, and genuine support, with them.
"Together in Mission" truly does help our poorest parish communities, as we heard on "Announcement Sunday" when members of our Sister Parish reported to us at each Mass. Every penny raised goes to help them meet their needs.

STANDING AT MASS
We stand from the "Our Father" till all have received Holy Communion. Those who cannot stand for health reasons, are allowed to sit as the rubrics in the Sacramentary direct.
The purpose behind this practice, is to remind the Gathered Assembly that many though we are, we become one body in Christ and one with each other in Christ. As one body, all doing the same thing, we stand together while singing together the Communion Hymn of praise unto the Lord. Only after all have received, do we then sit together to spend some time in quiet meditation and prayer with the Eucharistic Lord within us.
