ENCOUNTER 2000

Encounter 2000… is our opportunity, at our parish community level, to actively participate in a key program of the Church for this, the millennium year 2000.  Our banner above the Altar announces the year 2000 goal to…"Open wide the doors to Christ."  Reflect then on the theme of Encounter 2000 …  "Many faces in God's house."

Simply stated, Encounter 2000 is a program to help participants better understand all cultures and ethnicities and to welcome all faces to God's house, in one Catholic community.

Encounter 2000
offers six sessions of prayer, dialogue, reflection and celebration.  By meeting in small groups and sharing our own life's experiences, we will better understand and then unify all factions, cultures and groups within our own parish community.  We will meet, greet and discover (that is, encounter) our neighbors, and apply God's teachings and standards to help all to better understand one another.

All are invited to participate in one or more of these six sessions.  All meetings, with the exception of July 6th-9th will be held in the parish hall at 7:30 p.m.

April 26th
May 24th
June 28th
July 6th-9th National Meeting in Los Angeles
August  No meeting
September 27th
October 18th
November 22nd

These are proactive group discussions, among, and driven by, the members of  our own parish community.  They are not lectures or training sessions.  Participate at whatever level you choose: be a facilitator; participate in discussion groups; help by leading song or prayer; or simply come and listen.  Topics include:
"Many peoples, One Catholic Church," "Sharing Our Histories in Christ," and "Bridging the Gap between Faith and Life."

PLEASE
sign-up after Mass today to facilitate or participate in one or more of these six sessions.
