"TOGETHER IN MISSION"
If you have not yet made your 2000 Pledge Commitment to our Sister Parish and helping those less fortunate, please prayerfully consider doing so now or whenever your financial picture changes. We cannot ignore the needs of our poorest sisters and brothers. Rather, we need to stand in most heartfelt, and genuine support, with them.
"Together in Mission" truly does help our poorest parish communities, as we heard on "Announcement Sunday" when members of our Sister Parish reported to us at each Mass. Every penny raised goes to help them meet their needs.

ARCHDIOCESAN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS
It is that time of year again! The Annual Religious Education Congress in Anaheim is upon us. It is happening Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 7th, 8th, and 9th.
There will be sessions for personal growth and development, for parents, for all who minister in anyway in a parish community or Archdiocesan community. Over 250 workshops will be offered during those three dynamic days presented in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Sign Language. Those presenting these workshops will come from across the United States and from Europe. Topics will range from spirituality and personal development to theology and catechesis.
Sister Edith Pendergast will open the Congress 2000 with a reflection on the Congress Theme: "Awaken Hope - Shout Jubilee". Sister Elizabeth Johnson, Craig Kielburger, Arun Gandhi, and Bishop Samuel Ruiz will be the Keynote Speakers on Saturday and Sunday.
During the Congress there will be many opportunities for prayer and spiritual reflection. Daily Morning and Evening Praise (Morning Prayer & Evening Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours) will be prayed. Each afternoon at 5:00 p.m. there will be Eucharistic Liturgies. The Most Blessed Sacrament will be reserved in a special room all throughout the weekend for an opportunity to stop by and pay the Lord a visit. Confession too during this Jubilee Year of Reconciliation will be available each day as the priests of the Archdiocese are being asked to make themselves available.
Register now! Congress 2000 promises to be an enriching and spirit-filled weekend experience. Registration Forms are available in the Religious Ed Office during their regular office hours, or call Joan Nardone at 818 - 889 - 0612.
You may also call Adrian Whitaker at 213 - 637 - 7332 or 637 - 7346.
PS: As has been done for years, our parish will have a Hospitality Room. Because the Congress had to be changed from its original dates due to double booking by the Anaheim Convention Center, this year our Hospitality Room will be in the Anaheim Hilton Hotel. Lunch will be provided Friday and Saturday as usual. Members of our Sister Parish will also join us for lunch those days.

CONGRATULATIONS ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE PARISH
Congratulations to our daughter parish, St. Maxilmillian Kolbe, as our Archbishop, Cardinal Roger Michael Mahony, dedicates their new church and facilities today at 12:00 noon.
Last evening they began their Dedication Celebration by joining with us, their mother parish, at the 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass. Their choir sang. Lectors and Usher-Greeters were from both communities. At the end of that Mass, Father Bill presented them with a gift of a Second Class Relic of St. Maximilian Kolbe. [A First Class Relic is impossible since St. Maximilian Kolbe was cremated by the Nazis and the ashes lost.]
Since attendance at the Dedication Mass today is by "Ticket" only, Monsignor Peter O'Reilly will celebrate Mass for one and all at 7:00 p.m. in their new church.

STANDING AT MASS We Began Standing Last Week
Ever so slowly the rubrics provided in the "Editio Typica" (Official Vatican Latin Edition) of the 1976 Sacramentary are being implemented throughout the world.
We are now standing in accord with the rubrics from the "Our Father" till all have received the Holy Communion, we will stand as the rubrics imposed by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, direct in the 1976 Sacramentary.
The purpose behind this practice, is to remind the Gathered Assembly that many though we are, we become one body in Christ and one with each other in Christ. As one body, all doing the same thing, we stand together while singing together the Communion Hymn of praise unto the Lord. Only after all have received, do we then sit together to spend some time in quiet meditation and prayer with the Eucharistic Lord within us.
We stand from the "Our Father" until all have received Holy Communion. Those who cannot stand for health reasons, are allowed to sit as the rubrics in the Sacramentary direct.
