CARE-GIVERS
"Respite & Renewal"

"Respite & Renewal" is a wonderful program designed to offer Care-Givers support.

We all become a Care Giver at some time during our lives.    When we become a parent of an emotionally and/or physically disabled child; or we have elderly parents or relatives to care for;   or we are involved in many bereavement or detention or other ministries that drain us even as we serve.   From time to time we need a
"Respite" and we need to be "Renewed".

This group meets every other Sunday afternoon in Rooms 3 & 4 of the Parish Hall from 1:15 to 3:00 p.m.     Next gathering will be next Sunday, March 12th.     No dues!     No fees!     Just sharing and support and love.

For more information, please contact Margaret Pontius
Evenings Only at 818 - 706 - 1842.

JOIN IN THE CELEBRATION OF LITURGY OF HOURS

One and all are encouraged to join in praying Morning Prayer (Lauds) each morning at 7:45 a.m.     You are also invited to join in praying Daytime Prayer before Noon Mass at 11:50 a.m. followed by the "Angelus" ("Regina Caeli" during Eastertime).

Copies of the
"Liturgy of the Hours" are provided in large print by the front doors of the church.    Anyone wishing to own his/her own copy of the "Liturgy of the Hours" in big print may buy one at the Parish Pastoral Center.

SLEEPING BAGS, BLANKETS & MEN'S SANDALS

Dolores Mission in East Los Angeles still has a real need for sleeping bags and blankets.   In fact, it is a Desperate Need!      Also needed are men's shower sandals.

If you can help, please bring your donations to the Parish Pastoral Office.    Louise Brennan will make sure these items get to Dolores Mission as soon as possible.

SUMMER CAMP SCRAP BOOK

All Campers who attended "St. Jude's Summer Spirit Day Camp" are encouraged to stop by the Parish Pastoral Office and pick-up their Summer Scrap Book.     Moms and dads are welcome to pick-up their child's book for them.     There is one book per family.

Information about the "St. Jude Summer Spirit Day Camp 2000" will be in the Bulletin beginning Easter Sunday.     Registration will also begin at that time.

TODAY'S READINGS

First Reading - Observe the Sabbath because the Lord delivered you from the slavery of Egypt (Deuteronomy 5:12-15).
Second Reading - We carry about in our bodies the dying of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be manifest in our bodies (2 Corinthians 4:6-11).
Gospel - Jesus, while speaking of himself as the Lord of the Sabbath, rebukes the Pharisees by declaring that the Sabbath was made for humanity, not humanity for the Sabbath (Mark 2:23 - 3:6).

BIBLE STUDY - Sunday to Sunday

Please come join us in preparing for next Sunday's Mass.     We meet to learn about and discuss the Readings for the upcoming Sunday Liturgy.    Each week we watch a 20 minute video, stopping the tape at appropriate moments to discuss the material presented.   We enjoy lively conversation, faith sharing moments, and good Christian fellowship, as we learn more about the Bible and thereby enable ourselves to be more fully prepared to celebrate next Sunday's Mass.

Tuesday mornings 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in Room 7.       This week we will do the
"First Sunday in Lent" (B)."    All are welcome!   Come prepare for next Sunday's Mass!

No preparation!     No homework!

For more information, please contact Linda Odre at
805 - 373 - 1348, or Cathy Stobbe at 805 - 379 - 4064.
