SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME--- YEAR "B" --- FEBRUARY 27, 2000

   THIS WEEK IN OUR PARISH

INSTALLATION TODAY OF NEW PASTOR
AT OUR SISTER PARISH

Father Paul Sustayta is being installed this afternoon as the new Pastor of our Sister Parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Community, in Los Angeles at 4:00 p.m.    One and all are invited to attend.

Holy Spirit Parish is located at 1421 S. Dunsmuir in Los Angeles.     It is at the corner of Dunsmuir and Pico Blvd in Los Angeles.

NEW PIANO

One of Father Bill's closest friends was Chor-Bishop Kenneth R. O'Brien, J.C.D.    In fact, Monsignor Kenny came to be like a father and a mentor to Father Bill.

When Monsignor O'Brien died November 22, 1999, he left anything in his parents' home to Father Bill.    Father Bill chose to take the concert piano that belonged to Monsignor O'Brien's mother and donate it to St. Jude's.     The piano still plays very well though it is very old.     This concert piano is a "Mason and Hamlin", and was hand-crafted in 1907.    The keys are Bavarian spruce and ivory.    The signature of a "Mason and Hamlin" piano is the two and a quarter inch rim around the piano in hard maple.     The strings were woven by hand.     A little work is still needed on the hammers.    Otherwise, for being 93 years old and not having being played since Monsignor Kenny's mom died October 30, 1967, the piano is in fantastic shape.

Please do remember the repose of the soul of Chor-Bishop Kenneth R. O'Brien in your prayers.     Remember too the repose of the soul of his beloved mom, Rena Mannex O'Brien

BORN AGAIN OF WATER AND
THE HOLY SPIRIT

By God's gift, through water and the Holy Spirit, the following infants were reborn this past weekend to everlasting life. May God our loving Father, Jesus, our Lord and Brother, and the Holy spirit make them always, wherever they may be, faithful members of His holy people, the Church.

Let us welcome these new members into our parish family, and let us also congratulate their parents for sharing their faith with their children.

DIED IN CHRIST

Our parish community extends its most heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of those who have died this week. May God the Father welcome them into paradise. Father thank you for all the blessings you gave them in this life to show your Fatherly care for all of us. Eternal rest grant unto her and let your perpetual light shine upon them.
