ANNIVERSARY OF MONSIGNOR TOMMY O'CONNELL
This Friday & Next Sunday

To remember Monsignor Tommy O'Connell's First Anniversary, we are having two parish celebrations.

The first celebration will be this
Friday, February 11th, with our Parish School children during the 8:00 a.m. Mass.

The second celebration will be
next Sunday, February 13th, at the 12:00 Noon Sunday Mass for our parish community.      Our combined choirs will lead us in sung praise.  After that Mass, there will be a "Pot Luck" in the Parish Hall.     The parish will provide refreshments (coffee, tea, punch, etc.) and dessert.

Those planning to attend the "Pot Luck" are asked to bring a hot or cold main dish, or a salad, for six (6) or eight (8) people.     There will be people in the Parish Hall to receive your Pot Luck dish before Mass.    Since those helping prepare the Pot Luck would like to attend the Noon Anniversary Mass too, you are asked to please try to come early.     Your hot or cold dish, or salad, may be homemade or store-bought.     All is good!    All dishes are welcome!     What will be important that day, will be the fellowship and the sharing of each person's wonderful memories of Monsignor Tommy.

ALSO IN AND AROUND THE PARISH

PLEASE HELP A FAMILY IN NEED

One of our parish families is being faced with an incomprehensible challenge.     The Sikorra family is being devastated by Batten Disease which has effected both of their boys.   In an effort to provide financial and emotional support for the parents and the boys, a Benefit will be held in our Parish Hall this Saturday evening, February 12th.

The primary purpose of this non-profit Benefit will be to raise as much money as possible for the Sikorra family's Trust Fund.

Tickets are available for a "Suggested Donation" of $25.00 each.     Since the capacity of our Parish Hall is limited, tickets will be available on a first come basis.      Tickets can be obtained through the good services of Charlotte in the Parish School Office.

Join us for a fun evening with good music, love and genuine caring support!

CARE-GIVERS
"Respite & Renewal"

"Respite & Renewal" is a wonderful program designed to offer Care-Givers support.

We all become a Care Giver at some time during our lives.    When we become a parent of an emotionally and/or physically disabled child; or we have elderly parents or relatives to care for;   or we are involved in many bereavement or detention or other ministries that drain us even as we serve.   From time to time we need a
"Respite" and we need to be "Renewed".

This group meets every other Sunday afternoon in Rooms 3 & 4 of the Parish Hall from 1:15 to 3:00 p.m.     Next gathering will be next Sunday, February 13th.     No dues!     No fees!     Just sharing and support and love.

For more information, please contact Margaret Pontius
Evenings Only at 818 - 706 - 1842.

ADULT CONFIRMATION

Most Reverend Thomas Curry, D.D., the Santa Barbara Regional Bishop. will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation this Easter Season to the Adults of our Region at St. Peter Claver Church in Simi Valley.

If you are an adult, over 18 years of age and out of high school, and you have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation, you are encouraged to Sign-Up and take the necessary classes to receive this Sacrament of the Holy Spirit.     The requirements are simple.   They include:

  1. signing-up by registering with our Director of Religious Education, Joan Nardone, during regular Religious Ed Office Hours;
  2. presenting a copy of your Baptismal Certificate;
  3. and faithfully participating in the Eight Sessions in preparation for receiving
the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Since classes begin on the first Saturday of March, it is necessary to register as soon as possible.

SLEEPING BAGS & BLANKETS STILL ARE NEEDED

Dolores Mission in East Los Angeles still has a real need for sleeping bags and blankets.   In fact, it is a Desperate Need!

In particular, sleeping bags are desperately needed.  They are given to the homeless who sleep in the church and they take them with them to use at other locations when they move on.

If you can help, please bring your donations to the Parish Pastoral Office.    Louise Brennan will make sure these items get to Dolores Mission as soon as possible.
