WORLD MARRIAGE DAY CELEBRATIONS

His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, has asked us to celebrate World Marriage Day on Sunday, February 13th.     On this day our world, our community, our parish, are all asked to stand-up for marriage.    Our world and our media have given-up any belief in the sanctity of marriage.     "Love them and leave them!"     "Sex for pleasure without any commitment or responsibility!"    "Children are not needed!"    "Don't let children or family get in the way of advancing your career or cramping your ability to get ahead!"     All these ideas seem to be some of the current trends of our world and media that are so openly proposed and acted upon, as if God does not exist!

World Marriage Day will give our parish community an occasion to stand-up for the sanctity of marriage.    It will also give us an opportunity to honor all husbands and wives, to uphold the sacredness of Matrimony, and to provide an occasion for all couples present at each Mass to renew their marriage vows in the presence of the entire Gathered Assembly.

Silver & Golden Anniversaries

Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, for Mass on Sunday, February 13th, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace parish in Encino.      A donation of $15.00 per couple includes a commemorative certificate, ribbon, a formal photo with the Cardinal, and a reception immediately following the Mass.

Reservations are necessary.   To register or for information, please call the Office of Family Life:   Annette at
213 - 637 - 7228 or John at 213 - 637 - 7582.

IS YOUR MARRIAGE IN TROUBLE???

Someone once said
"Marriages may be made in heaven, but they sure take a lot of work on earth!"    Without attention and care, marriages wither.   Couples slowly and quietly drift apart or are being torn apart by terrible words and actions.     Many are married in name only, or just stay together "for the sake of the kids."    If this sounds like your marriage, RETROUVAILLE can help.    The program is designed to provide the communication tools needed to put suffering, troubled marriages back with scheduled follow-up talks.

For confidential information or to register, please call
800 - 470 - 2230 as soon as possible to begin the registration process.

While these classes are open to all who wish to attend, it should be remembered that these classes are taken by seminarians, thus a certain intermediate level of expertise is needed to attend these sessions.    These sessions are specially intended for all involved in ministry, and for all who wish to know and appreciate better their Catholic Faith.

Each series is a self-contained unit.    Sessions are presented in an interactive format that will include lecture, dialogue, and time for questions.

Parish Celebration of World Marriage Day

All parishes are asked to celebrate World Marriage Day and honor all married couples on this day.    Here at St. Jude's, we will salute all couples married in the Church that day, and we will ask them all to renew their wedding vows.     Please try to attend Mass on that Sunday as a family.
