SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME--- YEAR "B" --- JANUARY 16, 2000

MARTIN LUTHER KING, Jr., HOLIDAY

Tomorrow, Monday, January 17th, is the civil holiday when our nation stops to honor Martin Luther King, Jr., for all that he did to promote the civil rights and justice for all in our nation, especially for Afro-Americans.    As our country honors this civil rights leader, let us each pray that each of us may always be concerned about, and stand-up for, the basic human rights for all peoples everywhere.

If we all work for justice for all, we shall overcome!    We will let freedom ring loud and clear!

BLOOD DRIVE TODAY

The Ventura County Blood Life Services are here this Sunday from 8:00 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.     As our local and national newspapers, TV and radio news programs, and news magazines have been reporting there is a drastic shortage of blood at this time.     In fact, in some hospitals across our nation elective surgeries are being cancelled.      Part of the problem is resulting from the current flu problems.

If you are 17 years of age through 79 years of age, and you are in good health, and if you have not given blood in the last eight weeks, your blood is really needed

Give the Gift of Life today!    Give Blood!

PARISH HOLIDAY SCHEDULE TOMORROW

All Parish Offices will be closed tomorrow in honor of this civil holiday.      A priest will be available, in case some one is critically ill or dying.

There will only be one Mass tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., as we will follow our civil holiday schedule.
